Recoleta is one of those neighborhoods in Buenos Aires that just feels effortlessly cool. It’s classy without trying too hard, packed with history, and perfect for aimless wandering. Start with the Recoleta Cemetery—yes, a cemetery might sound weird as a tourist spot, but trust me, it’s one of the most fascinating places in the city. The mausoleums are like mini-mansions, and the famous residents (including Eva Perón) make it feel like a walk through Argentine history. Go early to avoid the crowds and get lost in the maze of marble and statues.

After that, pop over to Plaza Francia, especially on weekends when the artisan market is in full swing. You’ll find everything from leather goods to handmade jewelry, and there’s usually live music or street performers to keep things lively. From there, don’t miss El Ateneo Grand Splendid—this bookstore inside an old theater is straight-up stunning. Even if you’re not a book lover, grab a coffee on the stage and soak in the atmosphere.

When it’s time to eat, Fervor is the go-to for a classic steak dinner, while La Pecora Nera Grill does fantastic Italian-Argentine dishes. For something sweet, stop at Rapanui for some of the best chocolate in town (seriously, try the hot chocolate). If you’re up for a drink later, Milion is a stylish old mansion-turned-bar, and The Hole is a hidden speakeasy if you like a little mystery with your cocktails.

If you’re staying overnight, the Alvear Palace is the fancy option, but CasaSur Recoleta gives you boutique vibes with modern comfort. Recoleta is one of those places where you can take it slow, soak in the atmosphere, and just enjoy being in Buenos Aires.
