Tampa

Tampa is where Florida’s laid-back Gulf Coast vibe meets big-city fun.

USA > Florida > Tampa

Tampa has plenty of sun and water, but unlike Miami, the energy here is more relaxed. The best way to start exploring is along the Riverwalk, a scenic path connecting downtown’s top spots. Rent a bike or take a stroll past waterfront parks, trendy restaurants, and must-visit attractions like the Florida Aquarium and the Tampa Bay History Center. If you’re traveling with kids, the interactive exhibits at Glazer Children’s Museum or a day at Busch Gardens—half theme park, half zoo—will keep them entertained for hours.

Ybor City is where Tampa’s Cuban roots run deep. This historic neighborhood, once the cigar capital of the world, is still the best place to find an authentic Cuban sandwich. During the day, you can tour a hand-rolling cigar shop and sip a café con leche at a local bakery. At night, the area transforms into a nightlife hotspot, with lively bars and Latin music spilling into the streets. If craft beer is more your style, Tampa has one of Florida’s best brewery scenes. Cigar City Brewing is the local favorite, but there are dozens of great spots to explore.

For beach lovers, the soft white sands of Clearwater and St. Pete Beach are just a short drive away. They’re often ranked among the best beaches in the U.S., and for good reason. The sunsets here are stunning, and the vibe is pure relaxation. If you want something quieter, check out Honeymoon Island or rent a kayak at Caladesi Island State Park for a more secluded escape.

Tampa is an easy city to navigate, with a free streetcar running between downtown and Ybor City. Renting a car is useful if you plan to explore beyond the city, but parking downtown can be pricey. Whatever your travel style, Tampa offers the perfect mix of adventure, culture, and beachside bliss.
